Windows Explorer Series: How to Make Windows Explorer Open on the Same Windows

Hey its Cecil here, this is my first tutorial on windows explorer series about how to make windows explorer open on the same windows.

Things happen, so you may find that your windows explorer isn't opening on the same windows, it might be you’re doing by mistake or another party who was using your computer. Don’t stress, I’m here to help so let’s begin.

(These steps should work for Microsoft Windows Vista, 7 and 8)

Step One

Open any folder on your desktop and press the Alt button on your keyboard so the windows explorer’s toolbar will show.

Step Two

On toolbar click tools and then choose folder options, a small window should appear.

Step Three

Under the general tab you should see Browse folder and under it you should see two options “Open folder in the same window” and “Open each folder in its own window”, choose the first option and then press the OK button at the bottom of the folder options window.

Alternatively you could press the Restore Default button but that would change all your other settings that may have been modified for your needs.

Thanks for reading and I hope this helped.
